We have all heard of countries such as Greece, Italy or Spain. Some of us have already visited them, and others are only dreaming of seeing them one day.
If you are an experienced traveler, you might want to see something you have never thought exists! Surprisingly, there are quite a few such places and we advice you should visit them. But first see which one triggers your interest most.
1. Palau
Palau is an island country and is found in the Western Pacific Ocean. The country attracted a lot of states. Spain, Japan and Germany wanted to make it their belonging. Palau is popular with divers and snorkelers. You must see its coral reefs and picturesque ship wrecks that were left after battles and wars, mysterious tunnels, caves and a whole world of water life. Explorers interested in Palau should visit the state in February and March.
2. Mayotte
You might probably read this exotic name for the first time. And this is not surprising at all, because the name of this enigmatic country is hardly ever heard on TV or other mass media. Mayotte is considered quite a costly place and, if you decide to travel there, make sure you’ve got enough of money on your credit card. Visit the country between June and November to enjoy diving, sailing, snorkeling and snow white beaches.
3. Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso is a West African country. The local people, Burkinabe, are down-to-earth, friendly and easygoing folks. This is not the most popular tourist destination yet. The land has got a lot to offer to curious travelers though. Most agencies would recommend you should go and see the country between October and December, because then the season is not as wet as the rest of the year.
4. Andorra
The Pyrenees Mountains have accommodated Andorra – a tiny state squeezed between Spain and France. The place is known to hikers and those who adore beautiful nature. This micro-country used to be ruled by kings hence it is famous for its wonderful sites such as Casa de la Val, a tower defense and a manor, built in the 16th century. The cuisine is amazingly delicious and there are plenty of restaurants where you can taste local dishes and beverages. Visit it between April and October to see the country’s wonders.
5. Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein is another European country, located between Switzerland and Austria. The main local language is German. The state used to be part of the German Confederation, but then it gained its independence in 1866 and abolished its army two years later. Since then the state has remained neutral. The country is incredibly small – only 160 square kilometers (62 square miles). If you like winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding, Liechtenstein is the right place to practice your favorite hobby. People from every corner of the globe come here to spend their winter vacation.
6. Brunei
Brunei is located on an island. This small Borneo island country is on the north and neighbors with Malaysia. Brunei is a monarchy country ruled by King Hassanal Bolkiah. The same family has been ruling Brunei for the past 600 years. From 15th to 17th centuries the family owned and controlled huge coastal territories. There are nine mountains that range from 775 feet to 3.772 feet. Brunei would make a great place for adventurers and hikers since there are many forests as well. Although the country is tiny, there are a lot of things to see and do: watch the natives, visit Malay Technology Museum or simply enjoy the beautiful scenery. The best time to visit Brunei is between mid-autumn and early spring when it is not too humid and hot.
7. Falklands
The Falklands are owned by Britain and have been visited by tourists for a long time. The archipelago is located in the Southern Atlantic Ocean on the Patagonian Shelf. Not only is the name of the place unusual, its nature is not less impressive and amazing. Here you will see albatrosses, seals, penguins, and a number of other interesting representatives of the Antarctic region. People who are into history and culture may want to visit museums and war memorials. Remember to throw a few warm clothes into your suitcase – the average highest temperature is 24 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit).
