It has been a very sad fact for animals lover. Over 100 tigers were removed from Tiger Temple in the Kachanaburi province of Thailand, an attraction which had been under investigation since January, and the attraction was shut down. The location was an incredibly popular tourist attraction, which left many visitors questioning why exactly Thailand’s Tiger Temple had closed and whether it would ever re-open. Many tourist traveling to see the famous tiger show, but one of spot really important is the Tiger Temple, or Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua, was a Theravada Buddhist temple in western Thailand that was found in 1994 as a forest temple and sanctuary for wild animals, among them several tigers.

The popular Buddist temple at Kanchanaburi, 140 kilometres from Bangkok, where visitors can pet and take selfies with tigers, started keeping and breeding tigers 15 years ago and has promoted itself as a spiritual sanctuary where wild animals and humans can peacefully coexist.

However, the monks who live in the temple grounds deny abusing the tigers or trafficking any animals and refuse to handover animals to authorities as the place earns thousands of dollars a month from tourism.

For decades this place has been a popular stop for tourists who pay a steep fee to pet and be photographed with the predators – which animal rights groups say are heavily sedated.

Tiger Temple or Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua was founded in 1994, is very visited for the tourist around the world, is located in western of Thailand as a monastery and wildlife sanctuary for wild animals, the majority of which are Indochinese tigers, popular with tourists for being able to interact with the tiger all of ages.

The temple has long been accused by animal rights activists of mistreating the tigers for commercial gain and even trafficking some of its animals,though in 2005 it was cleared of allegations of animal mistreatment in an investigation by wildlife officials and a raid by Thai soldiers. Charges were pressed for unlicensed possession of 38 protected birds found on the temple grounds.

Thai wildlife authorities found 40 tiger cub carcasses in a freezer in Thailand’s infamous Tiger Temple a controversial tourist attraction.

Some 12 living hornbills were also confiscated as being possessed without license. The abbot’s secretary was stopped from leaving the site with over 1000 amulets containing little pieces of tiger skin, two whole tiger skins and ten tiger fangs.

Wildlife officials found around 20 jars containing the preserved dead bodies of tiger cubs at the Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua temple in Kanchanaburi province, north-west of Bangkok.

The temple has long been a major tourist attraction, with visitors paying 600 baht (£12) admission to pose for photographs with the tigers.

The government suspects the monks have been involved in illegal breeding and trafficking of the animals. The Temple was closed to the public.
