Many celebrities support breastfeeding in public, and some of them even document it by posting beautiful pictures on Instagram. Some even post older pictures for World Breastfeeding Week, celebrating the special bond between a new mom and her baby. In honor of World Breastfeeding Week.
1. Padma Lakshmi breastfeeding while Makeup
Padma Lakshmi is the latest celebrity mom to show herself doing the deed, even though her daughter is no longer a baby. Sharing a “Throwback Thursday” photo on Instagram, the Top Chef host gave “A shout out to working Moms everywhere!” with a behind-the-scenes shot of her getting glam and nursing now-6-year-old Krishna simultaneously.
2. Natalia Vodianova
Russian model Natalia Vodianova just posted this beautiful photo of herself nursing her 1-month-old son, Maxim, on Instagram.
3. Gwen Stefani breastfeeding on the beach
The singer recently made headlines with a picture posted on Instagram, in which she’s shown breastfeeding her third child, Apollo.
Stefani also nursed her first two children in public when they needed it, but the latest image shows the singer nursing her baby against the gorgeous backdrop of Switzerland’s mountains.
4. Olivia Wilde breastfeeding in Glamour
While she hasn’t been photographed by the paparazzi nursing her son in public yet, Olivia Wilde is certainly on her way to become one of the celebrities who breastfeed in public. She was photographed while feeding her son for Glamour magazine’s September 2014 issue. “Breastfeeding is the most natural thing. I don’t know, now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast,” she explained.
5. Gisele Bündchen breastfeeding backstage
The highest paid supermodel in the world is always busy, so she has to multitask! Gisele breastfed both of her children while getting her hair and makeup done for a photoshoot, and she even posted a picture of it on Instagram. “I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.
6. Salma Hayek breastfeeding African baby
Mexican born actress Salma Hayek took it a step further than most celebrities who breastfeed in public, by nursing a hungry baby on a trip to Sierra Leone. The malnourished mother couldn’t produce milk, so Hayek stepped in. “If you have milk, you have milk, and if they’re hungry, they’re hungry. I think it’s a beautiful thing, because motherhood is a very strong place for women to connect and understand each other,” she explained.
7. Pink breastfeeding on photoshoot
The singer nursed her daughter Willow in public more than once, and she has at least two pictures to prove it. Pink was breastfeeding while taking a break on a photoshoot and her husband even published a picture of her breastfeeding in a Paris restaurant, while on vacation.
8. Miranda Kerr breastfeeding on Instagram
The Australian model is also one of the celebrities who breastfeed in public. She was nursing in first picture even taken of her baby Flynn, and she continued to put pictures up on Instagram of breastfeeding while getting ready for a photoshoot. “To all mums out there I am sure you will make the right choice for you and your baby,” she said in support of breastfeeding for as long as possible.
9. Maggie Gyllenhaal breastfeeding in the park
Photographed by the paparazzi while breastfeeding her daughter in a New York park, actress Maggie Gyllenhaal seemed unphased. “You can’t tell another person when it’s right to stop breastfeeding, or how to put your kid to sleep. Every child is different,” she explained.
10. Kourtney Kardashian breastfeeding at the pool
Reality star Kourtney K has been photographed nursing in public in Miami, while lounging by the pool. She’s not just one of the celebrities who breastfeed in public, she also supports wet nursing. “One sister should babysit all the kids, so I can go out or vice-versa, and whichever sister is babysitting should just breastfeed all the kids that are there,” Kourtney told Kim while she was pregnant.
11. Selma Blair
A big advocate of public breastfeeding, Selma Blair also seems to be a fan of attachment parenting, continuing to nurse her 2 year old son. “I don’t care who I offend; my baby wants to eat. If I can’t get a cover over me quick enough, so be it,” she told People.
12. Mayim Bialik breastfeeding on subway
“The Big Bang Theory” star Mayim Bialik was photographed breastfeeding her 3 year old son on a New York City subway. “A typical night involved no less than four wake-ups and sometimes six (every 2 hours on the clock for 12 hours of bed time was not unusual),” she explained when publishing the image.
13. Alanis Morissette
For a recent “throwback Thursday,” Alanis Morissette shared a sweet picture of then-2-year-old Ever nursing in the car while his mom was on tour in Europe.
14. Alyssa Milano
Alyssa Milano was multitasking by breastfeeding, getting glammed-up, and speaking with her producer while prepping for her guest-hosting duties on The Talk.
