5 Tips to Maintain Your Bra Last Longer !

You shouldn’t in any case mess with the first and inner layer of clothing – your lingerie.  The ‘right fit feeling’ should not be compensated with, especially if you are bound to spend hours in them. However, once you’ve picked your choice and style, the next step is to maintain them well so that they last longer. Many a times, wrong handling can shorten their life by ruining the fabric or fit. Here are tips to ensure this doesn’t happen.

1.Stay Away from Loose Bras

The ideal function of brassieres is to support your breasts and hold them firmly to keep away from sagging. Let it hug your torso just right and not squeeze it beyond comfort either. Keep in mind, you should not have space to stick more than two fingers between your back and the brassiere strap.

2.Preserve them Well to Last You Long

It’s always a put off when you realise your undergarments have worn out sooner than you thought. To avoid such a situation, simply clasp your bras and store them in your drawer until your next use. Keeping them anyhow in your drawer can potentially rip or tear your favourite bra or underwear.

3.Don’t Stick to One

It is only healthy and hygienic to rotate bras and not just stick to one every single day. Your bras are needed to be washed well and given a day to dry completely.

4.Be Cautious of the ‘Gore’

The section of the bra that connects the two cups together is called the ‘gore’.  Be cautious that this section should lie just flat on your sternum without much gap between the undergarment and your body. Also, be particular about twisting this delicate section of the bra while washing or placing them in your drawer. Much attention is also to be given while you clip your bra to dry outside. You may damage the ‘gore’ and cause your bra to tear.

5.Simply Hand Wash

An important aspect of preserving your bras is washing them right. Unlike other garments, these are not meant to go into your washing machine. You might just ruin an expensive and ‘dream-like-fitting’ bra. Hand washing your bra only helps maximize its life span, so you could use it longer.

How to pick that perfect bra :

Check your Bra Size

You should know that you are likely to change your bra size every six months. Also, it so happens that your bra size may differ from one store to another.  It’s unhealthy and odd to constantly wear outgrown bras as this may hamper with the growth of your breasts.

Focus on Right Style

For those who are small-busted, you should look for padded bras or demi-cup underwire bras which give your breasts the needed lift. If you are keen on a fuller look there are ‘maximiser bras’ with extra padding available. For those who are busty, they should avoid wearing padded bras as extra pads would make them look unnecessarily bigger. Skip the demi-cup style even if they look attractive in their choice of colours and patterns. Instead, bras with full cups will give a good hold, and wide straps will provide better and comfortable support. For regular and casual use T- shirt bras work best. If you plan to sport a strappy or tube dress, a strapless bra will be a good option.

Check for Fit

Like any other piece of garment, you should ensure you try out the bra before pick it up even if you are sure of the size. The easy way to pick the perfect fit is by testing it by fastening it on the loosest hook and then loosen up the straps. If it’s just right, then you wouldn’t have to tighten the straps more than halfway. For the comfort fit, see if your breasts are not bulging out of the cup. You will realise that once you wear a T-shirt it will look awfully odd.
