Ramya Krishnan born on 15 September 1970 (age 46 years), at Chennai known by her stage name Ramya Krishna, now a days popular as sivagami Devi ( charachter from movie Bahubali) is an Indian film actress, who works mainly in the Telugu and Tamil film industries.

Krishnan started her acting career in 1984 at the age of 13 with the Malayalam film Neram Pularumbol.This film had a delayed release in 1986. Her first release was Vellai Manasu (1985),he has acted in over 200 films in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Before Bahubali this actor has earned lot of fame and recognition by her film Padayappa in Tamil(Narasimha in Telugu).This film brought her recognition and fame not only in South India but also internationally in Japan, Singapore, London and Paris. Her role in Padayappa was perhaps the best role of her career and disproved her critics who said that she was a mere glam doll.

She’s full of grace and charm even at the age of 46. She already astonished with her acting in Baahubali: The Beginning. But when another sequence of  Baahubali: The Conclusion released on April 28, she get credited with more number of fans.

Sivagami Devi (or Rajmaata Sivagami Devi or simply Sivagami) is a fictional character in the Baahubali film series written and directed by S. S. Rajamouli and produced by Arka Media Works. The character was created by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad and was portrayed by Ramya Krishnan.Shivgami devi is famous as queen of Mahishmati Kingdom and a royal-loyal mother.

Ramya Krishnan is married to noted director Krishna Vamsi since 12th June 2003. The couple gave birth to a son named Ritwik.

 

Ramya Biography, Background & Film Career

Ramya was born in Chennai. She is the niece of veteran Tamil comedian Cho Ramaswamy. She received initial training in Bharathanatyam, Western and Kuchipudi dance forms and has given many stage performances. Although her mother tongue is Tamil; she can speak Telugu as well.

Krishnan started her acting career in 1984 at the age of 13 with the Malayalam film Neram Pularumbol featuring Mammootty and Mohanlal in the lead. This film had a delayed release in 1986. Her first release was Vellai Manasu (1985), a Tamil film opposite Y. G. Mahendra.

Krishnan’s first Telugu film was Bhale Mithrulu (1986). She achieved fame through Kasinadhuni Viswanath’s Sutradharulu, released in 1989. She emerged as leading actresses in the Telugu industry alongside Soundarya, Meena, Roja and Nagma in the 1990s. As her breakthrough came from K.Raghavendra Rao directorial movies where she emerged as a commercial romantic diva of the season, due to successful movies like Alludugaru (1990), Allari Mogudu (1992) and Major Chandrakanth (1993) along with Mohan Babu and Allari Priyudu (1993) along with Rajasekhar. She played the role of a devoted wife of Sri Annamacharya, which was played by Nagarjuna in the blockbuster film Annamayya (1997). She has been paired with leading actors such as N. T. Rama Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Krishna, Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Jagapathi Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Srikanth, Rajasekhar, Jr. NTR, and Mahesh Babu. She received a prestigious Nandi Award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for her performance in Dasari Narayana Rao’s film Kante Koothurne Kanu (1998). She played the lead role in the Bollywood action comedy film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998) along with Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda. She played the lead role in the Tamil film Padayappa (1999) along with Rajinikanth.

She was a judge in a dancing show on STAR Vijay: Jodi Number One, season 1, followed by season 5.

Her most recent films are Baahubali: The Beginning where she played Shivagami, the Queen mother and Soggade Chinni Nayana where she played the role of satyabhama and she also played a very important role in Allari Naresh’s movie Mama Manchu Alludu Kanchu. Ramya Krishnan earned praises for her performance as Rajamatha Sivagami in Baahubali 2: The Conclusion
