Coliving and coworking, two post-pandemic work trends

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, freelance employees have had to adapt at the speed of light. Among other things, the workspace has been redefined and is now designed with new parameters in mind.

Although it is true that remote work has been around for decades, it was precisely in the wake of the pandemic that companies started to get their act together. Now that we are leaving it behind, these entities have realized the benefits of working remotely and kept allowing us to do it, or to combine it with a presencial modality.

It is also important to take into account the home office concept. A large part of the job market functions within this modality, especially entrepreneurs who are beginning.

Two of the most important trends of the moment are coliving and coworking, with a series of advantages that can be interesting for both individuals and professionals.

Read on to discover them in detail.

What are Coworking and Coliving?

Coworking spaces are shared offices used by professionals to work. They are also an interesting place where professional profiles connect and create new professional opportunities.

Most often we are talking about professionals who need few resources to do their work: for example, a phone, laptop and network connection. Some of the most prominent profiles could be web designers, programmers, journalists, salespeople, consultants or online community managers.

Coliving is an evolution of coworking. In this first formula we find different people sharing the same apartment, having certain common areas (for example, the living room, the kitchen or the laundry), leisure areas and also a workplace, as if it were coworking.

Coliving is such a big trend to the point that you can already find specialized portals with some available premises. Take a look at Wooda and you will surely find what you need.

What are the differences between Coliving and Coworking?

It is quite possible that the differences are quite clear at this point but, just in case, we are going to extend ourselves.

  • Coworking spaces are, in essence, shared offices. There are different types of shared spaces, some of them are more complete and sophisticated than others. They can be a good option for companies that cannot afford to have their own office, who want to save on expenses, or simply to create a commercial nerve center, very interesting to establish contacts and look for profiles to move forward in several projects.
  • Coliving spaces are usually included in one of the modalities of coworking. It is a branch of shared spaces, an evolution that gives employees the option of renting the entire facility to live in, instead of just using it as a workspace. However, it should be noted that the term coliving is also used only for shared housing, and it is not necessarily related to work. For example, housing for tourists or students.

As a freelancer …. Do you really think that coliving is worthwhile? It’s true that coining this new concept requires making changes in the way we conceive of any project… even down to the way we live.

However, as soon as we start thinking about the advantages (such as saving time and money, the possibility of connecting with professionals or other profiles without leaving our home…) we realize that it can be very interesting.

Considering that the demand for these spaces is skyrocketing, everything points to the fact that this trend is here to stay in our country.
