It's much better to do good deeds without telling every one about it than to do good and tell everyone . One should do good because he/she wants to help, not because you want to make every one notice YOU! You'll feel better.

The only mistake the father did was that he had been a source of inspiration to the other children but not to his son (during his childhood). But good teaching about GIVING. Remember the note "You will be a great man"? He should not have told his son it's not his when the son thought it's for him ('coz it made him smile when he read it, thinking it was for him). He might just gave it to his son and made another one for the boy in wheelchair. Nice story though.
