The mysterious story surrounding this fort talks about how a young prince was brutally murdered by one of his very own relatives in the fort. Therefore, his spirit still haunts the place and in the night, sounds of him shrieking almost violently can be heard. There are many locals who actually camp at night on the fort grounds just to hear that little boy’s scream for help. A chilling story indeed.

However, most visitors prefer to visit the fort during the morning hours as it is desirable. In fact, the fort is deserted at night except for maybe a caretaker doing the rounds.

It is a big film city in Hyderabad,(like universal studios) the hotels in Ramoji film city are haunted. They say that the film city is built on war grounds of the Nizam sultans. Witnesses report the lights kept on top keep falling off, the light men- who sit with the lights on top have been pushed so many times and many have had grievous injuries.

The food left in rooms also gets scattered around the room and strange marks are left on the mirror, some script…. resembling Urdu…the language spoken by the sultans. Girls are the ghosts’ favorite to haunt. They trouble the girls so much, they tear their clothes, knock on the bathroom doors while the outside doors are locked. They create havoc. 10. Sanjay Van (near Qutab Institutional Area) – New Delhi

Sanjay Van is a huge forest area spread over around 10 kms. There is a cremation ground also there, many people have reported having seen a lady dressed in a white saree appearing and disappearing suddenly.

11. Dow Hill in Kurseong – Darjeeling

Dow Hill in Kurseong, Darjeeling may not necessarily be considered as one of the abandoned places in India but it can surely be one of the most haunted places in India. This small township is famous for some of the best boarding schools in West Bengal. The Dow Hill Boarding School for Girls is at the center of supernatural activity by all accounts.

There have been many reports of the school’s corridors being haunted. Additionally, the forest that surrounds the school is also considered to be haunted. In fact, many woodsmen who visit the forest have reported seeing a headless boy who suddenly appears and then disappears into the forests. Legend has it that there were innumerable murders which took place in this forest area.

12. The Brij Raj Bhavan Palace in Kota – Rajasthan

Charles Burton’s ghost still haunts the old building and susceptible guests have complained of distinctly "discomforting and tyrannical feelings".

13. Grand Paradi Towers, Mumbai

Arguably the most famous haunted house in Mumbai is situated in one of the city’s most affluent areas. On the eighth floor of the Grand Paradi (sometimes referred to as the Grand Parrari) Towers in Kemps Corner a series of freakish suicides drew attention to what appeared to be a gruesome pattern of deaths and accidents in the building. In 2004 an elderly couple jumped out of the window of this apartment. Their children and their grandchild followed suit within the year. Residents who have lived in the building for 30 years tell us, “There was something unacceptable to our rational minds that a whole family, three generations, living in one house should commit suicide in the same way. There have been up to 20 cases of fatal accidents and suicides since the building was constructed in 1976. Many involving children and even a maid who either jumped or fell out of a window.”

After the series of unfortunate events the building society began to believe that paranormal forces were at work. “After the suicides of the family the building society decided to do a puja and a havan and since then everything has stopped but the flat remains unoccupied”.


14. The Lambi Dehar mines, Mussoorie,Uttarakhand

On the outskirts of Mussoorie these abandoned quarry mines have haunted the surrounding area from the early 1990s when an unfortunate event led to the death of around 50,000 workers. Ever since the area has been deserted and natural forces have taken over the vacant houses. Far from civilization this place gives off a post-apocalyptic feel.People no longer live here and during night time, some tourists have reported hearing strange noises. Many travellers met with fatal road accidents while driving and the most recent one being the shocking crash of a helicopter near the Lambi Dehar mines site.
