This is the story of Janine & John. 52 days before she was set to walk down the aisle, Janine’s fiancé John died unexpectedly. As a tribute, Janine took part in a photo shoot while wearing the dress she was meant to wear on her wedding day.

“I really felt that Johnny was smiling down at me and finally giving me closure that I can live my life in a positive way, but never forgetting why I was here,” said Janine.
The stunning photos show Janine under water, swimming while wearing her wedding gown. “At the end of the day I felt more alive than I have ever felt since May 1st,” Janine explains in a video shot by Del Sol Photography. The video also shows Janine writing a note to her fiance before attaching it to a balloon to send it into the sky.
“My expectation was to find a certain closure and to have a photo shoot of my dress in a different way that not your average bride would even think of doing.” she said in an interview with Del Sol Photography. “I wanted to be free and I wanted to do something different.”
Matt Adcock of Del Sol Photography, worked as the principal photographer on the photo shoot. In a blog post, Adcock wrote, “This is by far the most emotional I have ever been while working on a project,” adding “This is the first time I’ve been inspired to do anything like this in my 10 year career as a destination wedding photographer.”
Del Sol Photography, based in Riviera, Maya Mexico specializes in beach weddings and “trash the dress” sessions.
