We believe that the easiest way to change people's behaviour for the better is by making it fun to do.
Wherever we go, in the mall, offices, buildings or airports, we would definitely choose to use the elevators or the escalators rather than the stairs. Of course, we don’t want to get sweaty nor have ourselves tired. Elevators and escalators made our lives easier by taking us to the higher grounds effortlessly, but why not just take the stairs if it is just a floor or two above? It won’t be that tiring and yet benefits your own body. It’s a workout without workout! Studies show that a person weighing around 160-200 pounds will burn an estimate of 9-16 calories by walking up the stairs in a minute, and 2 calories while standing inside the elevator. It will make a big difference day by day, you’ll see!
However, if you are looking for something brilliantly creative, here, these concern citizens under the initiative of Volkswagen, made an experiment in the subway station of Odenplan in Stockholm. They called it the “fun theory”. They noticed that people would rather use the escalators than the stairs, so what they decided to do was to recreate the stairs into something undeniably fun. This is a kind of genius idea that no one can resist. Men, women, children or adults loved this. Who would not? Having fun while burning calories? This is somehow can be compared to a person going to the gym, running in the treadmills while having some music. Diversion is the term. Diverting your attention to the music you hear while exercising is one of the best ways not to get tired easily.
