Unlike our caveman ancestors, our lives are pretty much stuck to the desks for good 10-12 hours or more where we press a button and have coffee mugs refilled. Sitting just does not end there; everyone gets a drive back and then we are too tired to move ourselves from the extremely cozy couch in front of the television. Thus, giving you a really bad posture and a unhealthy spine. Don’t let the chair win and be a little more strategic while at work and balance working and working out. We bring you 5 easy steps to avoid the slouch.
1. Take The Stairs
While you are at it, try and take a flight up them. Start your day by rushing up the stairs and don't worry about people judging you because most offices have stairs hidden away as fire escapes and no one other than house-keeping uses it. So, your secret is safe.
2. Maintain A Good Posture
Yes, it will be hard and tiring at first. Also, you might take a little time to get used to it but it will be worth it. It will reduce tension in your neck, shoulders, back and will improve organ function too.
3. Push-Ups During Bathroom/Coffee Break
It is not that weird as it sounds because most people today hardly get to go to the gym. So bring the gym to your office. Ten push-ups and eventually add 10 squats twice a day. It will make you feel fitter and you gain back the confidence which slouches tend to take away.
4. 5 Minutes Of Walking Every 45 Minutes
It is human psychology to work better when you have an incentive of taking short breaks throughout the day than slogging throughout the day in a single sitting. Also, it rejuvenates you and makes you feel fresh.
5. Dip Before Lunch
Your triceps could use a little cranking while you are just about to leave for lunch. Place your hands on your chair and your feet stretched on the floor in front of you. Lower yourself until your arms form a 90 degree angle and then press up. 15 reps should be a good count to start.
