After four years of waiting, the World Cup is now on our doorstep with the tournament kicking-off tonight.

Host nation Brazil get things under way when they face Croatia in Sao Paulo, with Luiz Felipe Scolari's men firm favourites to be crowned champions next month.

But before we get to see some football, a stunning Opening Ceremony will be staged, with some incredible sights expected.

Here's our guide to the pre-tournament spectacular with all the key information you need.

The opening ceremony will be on Thursday June 12.

Events are set to get under way at 7pm BST, with Brazil vs Croatia kicking off two hours later.

It will be staged at the Arena de Sao Paulo, with around 60,000 fans expected to be present.
