Most of us can attend a sales seminar, hear a motivational speaker, or even watch a sales training video on YouTube. They tell us all of the secrets to success and if we follow those steps we will be successful also. We get the warm and fuzzy feeling. We get pumped up. We make the follow up calls. We call old customers for referrals. We are ready to start working hard! Then a couple of days later the words just sound like echoes down an empty hallway. We put the book down and fall back into old habits. So why can't we keep that motivation all the time? Why can't we have that deep burning fire all the time? The answer is simple. Its a lack of motivation. More importantly it is self motivation.
So how do we stay motivated? The answer is not as simple. Staying motivated will have to become a habit, a daily routine. You even have to go as deep as your thinking. You need to think of your goals and the person you want to be. To get motivation into your thinking, you need to walk, talk, and act like you are a success. Once motivation and successful mindset are second nature, then you will have motivation as your little puppet.
So here is how you stay motivated. Start in the morning. The morning for me is one of my most productive times. I wake up and I declare that a great day is up ahead. I read a chapter of a sales book and I say to myself all sorts of positive affirmations (Even if they are not true yet). That gets me going…plus a little Costa Rican coffee. Also use some reminders around your desk. You got a good fortune cookie? Tape it to your computer. Always keep a positive message around you so that the message will sneak into your psyche. I always say "A positive mind is a motivated mind." If you are wanting something? Put a picture of that something on your desktop background.
Get it all around you. Read a chapter a morning. Buy a book that teaches you how to master your craft. I don't care if you are a street sweeper. Buy a book on how to be the best street sweeper. You are already reading "50 ways to life hack your kitchen" on Buzzfeed, so why not read something that can add to your paycheck. Get motivation into your second nature so when you are debating rather or not to follow up on that customer. You need to think "Hey this is my paycheck. I'm buying that car! I need to call that customer back." It will never hurt you to grow and learn more.
You can invest in yourself. Self investment can be your motivator. The beauty of motivation factors, is that it can be anything. A car, a house, a new Chanel bag, the boss needing you to meet the quota, or even your own personal standards you hold for yourself. Motivation works best when you make it part of your daily routine. When it becomes second nature. That is the key. Do whatever you can to add something inspiring to your daily routine. Watch a video, read a book, go find your motivation on a daily. Do it all day long if you like.

"Motivation doesn't last. Well neither does bathing, that's why we recommend you do it daily."
