Should I update my app to Android L?

Android Architect Brian Parent answers this week's top question, about whether to update your Android app now that L is out.

Keeping in mind that Android L is still in developer preview, he recommends you should always make plans to test and update your app every time a new version of Android is released.

As far as keeping up with design, the Holo theme is still supported in L, but over time users will expect to see designs more in line with new Material Design.

Material Design is a new design philosophy, not an Android release, so there's no reason why it should be exclusive to L. You can already begin applying the concepts to earlier releases of Android.
